Where does this desire to undertake come from?

The desire to be an entrepreneur is rooted in a combination of personal passions, life experiences and observations of the world around me. It comes from a desire for autonomy and freedom, to be able to shape my own path and realize my own ideas. Finally, the desire to be an entrepreneur is fueled by an insatiable curiosity and thirst for learning, as well as by the desire to challenge conventions and explore new possibilities.

Where do you like to create? What are your rituals?

I love creating in my workshop/studio, as this is where I feel most inspired and focused. It’s a space where I can let my creativity flow and explore new ideas without any interruption. My creative process is often fast and fluid; I like to move quickly from idea to prototype. Mobiles are a fantastic medium for this, as they provide a great platform to experiment and play with shapes, balance and colours. My creative ritual usually involves starting by sketching out a few ideas on paper, then moving straight to prototype production. It’s an organic process, where each step feeds into the next, until I manage to capture the essence of my vision.

Volta’s DNA in a few words?

Volta’s DNA is characterized by an innovative vision of mobile, perceiving it as a timeless and durable decorative object. We ingeniously combine contemporary aesthetics with classic elements to design pieces that are both elegant and sophisticated. Our commitment to sustainability guides our design and manufacturing choices, emphasizing the use of durable materials, ease of repair and responsible production methods.

What inspired you in 2015?

I was particularly inspired by the artistic expression of the mobile as a kinetic work. The organic forms and fluidity present in Volta designs subtly reinterpret the aesthetic of Alexander Calder’s mobiles, while drawing inspiration from abstract art and 20th century art movements. This fusion of influences has had a profound impact on me and has fueled my creativity.

From the design to the production of a mobile, what are the different stages?

It all starts with sketches, exploring a multitude of shapes, blades and bases. Then, these sketches are refined and translated into digital format to create the first prototypes, usually in raw steel and aluminium. At this stage, the focus is on balance, harmony and proportions to ensure a cohesive aesthetic. Once the main model is established, I start searching for the ideal colour palette, each hue carefully chosen to match the mobile. Each step of this process is essential to ensure the creation of a mobile that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Did you care about European manufacturing?

Manufacturing in our workshop near Barcelona is at the heart of my approach. As a manufacturer and craftsman, I attach great importance to the quality of production. This allows me to guarantee high standards, while supporting the local economy and reducing the carbon footprint. It is an obvious choice for me, aligned with my values and my commitment to sustainability.

The influences of this new collection?

“Each piece in this collection embodies a harmonious fusion of organic inspirations and timeless sophistication, creating a captivating visual and aesthetic experience.”

As for Jaime Hayon, his poetic and playful work captures my imagination, skillfully blending tradition and innovation. Their unique creativity and artistic vision motivate me to pursue excellence in my own design work.

Your current palette?

At the moment, two color palettes particularly inspire me, offering an astonishing harmony. On the one hand, an organic palette, dominated by natural tones, evoking raw materials such as wood, lime, brass, steel, etc. On the other hand, bright and bold hues that create a striking contrast with the first ones. This combination creates a captivating visual dynamic, combining the warmth of nature with the energy of bright colors.

An object, a color, a music, a film that resembles you?

An object: the Quaderna table, symbol of a radical, timeless and functional design.

A color: undergrowth greens, evoking the tranquility of nature and the freshness of the forest.

A music: recently, I was seduced by the captivating melodies of Orville Peck, which transport me into a unique musical universe.

A film: "Poor Things" charmed me with its fascinating plot and intriguing characters, offering a cinematic experience rich in emotions and reflections.

What are your next desires?

I am constantly looking for new inspirations to enrich my creativity. Currently, I am considering designing new models of hanging mobiles, perhaps exploring different scales to offer a new visual experience. In addition, I aspire to deepen my work with raw metal, exploring its textures and possibilities in a more in-depth way. These projects stimulate me and I am eager to see how they will come to fruition.
