Focus on Ethnicraft

Ethnicraft, the love story between two friends, Philippe and Benoît, and home furniture design. After a revealing trip by Benoît to Indonesia, the two friends first joined forces to export the unique pieces from this promised land of wooden furniture craftsmanship. It was in their hometown, Antwerp, that success was felt and pushed them to open a Design studio, to give life to the characterful furniture that we know today. The DNA of the studio has remained the same since its beginnings, functional creations from materials made to last.

The iconic

Signed Alain Van Havre

It was at the prestigious Eindhoven Design Academy that the studio’s in-house designer, Alain Van Havre, learned his trade. This is the same institution that produced the great figures of Dutch graphic design, Wim Crouwel and Dolly Rudeman, respectively known for the New Alphabet seen on the covers of Joy Division and the film posters featuring Marlene Dietrich in the 1920s. The influence of the Dutch Design School on the designer’s creative approach is widely recognized, as minimalism, function and innovation are at the heart of his creations. For him, “the entire collection embodies the same duality: creating a timeless product, but with a nod to the precise moment in which it is made.”

Geometric

The Geometric collection, the designer's latest, is inspired by full or suggested shapes. They give grace to the absolutely minimalist lines of the creations. Oak wood is, as usual, the great essential of this composition, we find it at Fleux on a side table with a natural varnish or tinted black.

Pi

Back to basics for the designer, with the Pi shelves that unhesitatingly recall the branches of mahogany that make up the shelves, coffee tables and dining tables of this emblematic collection with imperfect polished finishes.

Bok

Essential pieces from the designer, you will recognize the Bok collection. Available in tables and chairs, these strong, almost sculptural pieces from the Dutch designer demonstrate quality craftsmanship that is brilliantly combined with the designer's know-how. It is a great classic for fans of minimalist pieces with an assertive character.
